Henry Schein reports sales increase during third quarter

9th November 2009

Henry Schein, supplier of dental products, has published its financial results for the third quarter of 2009, revealing an increase in net sales of 3.7 per cent compared to the same period of 2008.

Its total net sales were recorded as $1.7 billion (1.07 billion pounds) during the timeframe.

This equates to a decrease of 3.1 per cent when related to foreign currency differences, but a rise of four per cent in local currencies.

Income from the firm’s continuing operations for the third quarter was $94.0 million – $1.03 per diluted share – representing an increase of 39.2 per cent.

Stanley Bergman, chairman and chief executive officer of Henry Schein, commented: “We are pleased to report net sales growth in local currencies of approximately seven per cent excluding sales of seasonal influenza vaccines, with solid increases in our medical, international and technology groups.”

In early October, Henry Schein announced the introduction of a range of dental educational courses, which showcase emerging technology and provide students and faculties with remote access to live-patient continuing education programmes.
