Henry Schein signs exclusive distribution deal for Iams

Henry Schein has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Procter & Gamble, under which it will be the sole distributor of the firm's Iams product to US veterinary practices.

Iams comprises a range of therapeutic diet foods for cats and dogs, including formulas to manage pet health conditions like digestive imbalance, obesity, and skin, coat, joint and urinary disorders.

This lineup will be added to Henry Schein's current portfolio of pet nutritional solutions, which are offered to vets across the US.

Kevin Vasquez – chairman, president and chief executive of the company's Animal Health business – welcomed by deal, adding that Henry Schein shares with Procter & Gamble "a strong commitment to supporting animal nutrition … and raising awareness of its vital impact on overall pet health".

According to Marcie Campion, a nutritionist for Procter & Gamble's Pet Care division, nutritional management "is key to a lifetime of health and longevity" for cats and dogs. An estimated 33 million domestic animals in the US are at least 11 years old.
