Hill-Rom agrees takeover of Trumpf Medical

18th June 2014

Hill-Rom has announced the acquisition of Trumpf Medical, a German manufacturer of operating room infrastructure products such as surgical tables, surgical lighting and supply units.

The medical division of the Trumpf Group will be purchased for approximately $250 million (147.56 million pounds) in cash, with the deal expected to close during the fourth quarter of this year.

It is expected that the takeover will double the size of Hill-Rom's surgical portfolio with market-leading operating room products, while positioning the company to capitalise on new customer partnerships.

Trumpf's established presence in high-growth markets such as Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America will also benefit the company.

John Greisch, president and chief executive officer of Hill-Rom, said: "The acquisition of Trumpf Medical reflects our focused and disciplined strategy to pursue acquisitions that capitalise on Hill-Rom's brand equity in targeted areas, diversify our portfolio and meet our objectives for growth and value creation."

This comes after the firm allied with Ecolab earlier this month to produce an integrated hand hygiene compliance solution.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801729257-ADNFCR
