Hill-Rom introduces new features for Welch Allyn Connex platform

9th March 2018

Hill-Rom has announced the introduction of new workflow efficiency and security features for its Welch Allyn Connex vital signs monitoring portfolio.

The company has upgraded its devices with secure access technology from the healthcare IT security company Imprivata, enabling stronger protection of patient data stored on Connex devices, while also providing clinicians with rapid access to this information.

Instead of a login system, Connex devices will instead be able to read hospital security badges via barcode or RFID, offering one-step access at the bedside. It will now also be possible for device access to be restricted to only those individuals who need it.

These additions represent an important upgrade at a time when data security standards are coming under the spotlight, with healthcare data breaches resulting in severe safety implications.

Alton Shader, president of Hill-Rom's frontline care business, said: "This integration illustrates our focus on protecting areas that are critical in healthcare today: patient privacy, data integrity and nurses' time."
