Hologic launches new MyoSure Manual gynaecological surgery device

3rd November 2017

Hologic has announced the US market launch of  MyoSure Manual, the latest addition to its MyoSure suite of gynaecological surgery products.

The new device has been designed to help doctors more easily resect and remove intrauterine tissue in office settings, and works in conjunction with the broader MyoSure minimally invasive hysteroscopic treatment system.

It includes a fully integrated vacuum that does not require external suction, and can be operated with a one-litre saline bag. There is also no need for a controller or additional capital equipment for fluid management, while its clear tissue trap allows visual confirmation of any tissue removed.

MyoSure offers a number of advantages for women with problematic tissue in that it requires no cauterisation, thereby preserving uterine form and function, and enabling quick and convenient removal of tissue that may be causing abnormal uterine bleeding.

Dr Edward Evantash, medical director and vice-president of medical affairs at Hologic, said: "We recognise the increased demand for in-office procedures, and seek to develop innovative solutions to provide flexibility and convenience for both physicians and patients."
