Hologic’s Low Dose 3D Mammography system shows further benefits in new study
Hologic's Low Dose 3D Mammography exams with C-View software have been shown to deliver comparable results to traditional Genius 3D Mammography exams.
A study by University of Pennsylvania researchers, to be published in the medical journal Radiology, have shown that the two techniques offer a similar overall and invasive breast cancer detection performance, as well as equivalent recall rates.
The newer technique offers a number of advantages over the more established method, as the dosage is even further below established dose guidelines, while its faster exam time makes it more comfortable for patients.
This study was conducted using Hologic's Selenia Dimensions mammography system, in conjunction with its C-View software.
Pete Valenti, Hologic's division president for breast and skeletal health solutions, said: "This study reaffirms the efficacy of C-View software and further underscores the value of 3D Mammography exams for breast cancer screening."
These findings echo the positive conclusions of a European study that was published in The Lancet earlier this month.
