Horiba announces takeover of Photon Technology International

14th February 2014

Horiba has announced the acquisition of Photon Technology International (PTI), a move that will strengthen the company's market leadership in fluorescence spectroscopy.

PTI is a leading supplier of research spectrofluorometers for university and research labs and the wider industrial and biomedical sectors, with a history spanning three decades.

The company is the world leader in microscopy-based fluorometers, particularly in the field of intracellular ion imaging. It also manufactures and distributes lasers and other optical components under the Optical Building Blocks brand.

PTI's additional products, personnel and manufacturing capabilities will be added to Horiba's scientific division, allowing it to offer a wider range of solutions for researchers.

Steve Slutter, president of Horiba Scientific in the Americas, said: "We are particularly excited about the opportunities to expand our presence in the microscopy and the biomedical markets served by PTI's product portfolio."

Last month, the company announced it will be sponsoring this year's RamanFest, an international life science event taking place in Boston in June 2014.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801693867-ADNFCR
