Horiba Scientific launches enhanced Raman ParticleFinder software

Horiba Scientific has announced the launch of a new, enhanced ParticleFinder module for the LabSpec 6 spectroscopy suite.

For use in combination with the full range of Horiba Raman microscopes, the updated ParticleFinder delivers additional automation and ease of use, facilitating the locating and identifying of particulate matter for molecular analysis.

The improved workflow was developed through collaborations with RJ Lee in the US and Technologiezentrum Wasser in Germany, and guides users through the process of locating particles, generating size/shape statistics, selecting candidate particles and acquiring Raman spectra.

It offers access to the full range of LabSpec univariate and multivariate features, as well as KnowItAll database features, to easily classify particles according to their spectral fingerprint, with chemical IDs visualised through colour-coding.

Potential applications include the analysis of drug formulations, assessing the chemical composition of mineral samples, chemically identifying foreign contaminants and looking for microplastics in water.
