Horiba Scientific launches multipurpose Dual-FL fluorometer

Horiba Scientific has announced the launch of Dual-FL fluorometer, an innovative analytical device that combines the functions of a spectrofluorometer and spectrophotometer.

Dual-FL is described as the world's fastest benchtop fluorometer with a built-in ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrophotometer, offering spectral rates up to 80,000 newton metres per second, while acquiring excitation-emission matrices up to 100 times faster than any other instrument.

It features a sensitive back-illuminated CCD detector for rapid collection of emission spectra and an excitation double monochromator for superior stray light rejection, thus ensuring the signal-to-noise ratio is kept as low as possible.

The manufacturer said: "Dual-FL is a breakthrough instrument that allows unparalleled speed and ease of use for fluorescence spectroscopy, with the added bonus of meeting all of a lab's UV-VIS needs."

Earlier this year, the company announced that its Verde Hyperspectral camera was recognised as one of the most innovative products of 2011 at the recent R&D 100 Awards.
