Hospira appoints new chief commercial officer

Hospira has announced the recruitment of Richard Davies as its new senior vice-president and chief commercial officer.

Mr Davies joins the company as of today (February 2nd 2012) and becomes part of its senior leadership team, taking responsibility for developing and executing commercial strategies, while delivering profitable revenue growth.

He brings more than two decades of strategic and operational experience to the business, having most recently served as vice-president and general manager for Japan, Asia Pacific and Latin America at Amgen, as well as spending 13 years at Lilly before this.

F Michael Ball, Hospira's chief executive officer, hailed Mr Davies for his track record of "unparalleled success" in promoting growth in the healthcare sector.

"We expect to leverage his deep expertise to advance our leadership positions worldwide by executing customer-centric strategies and an aggressive portfolio expansion initiative," he added.

This comes after John Staley took over from the outgoing Christopher Begley as non-executive chairman of Hospira last month.
