Hospira becomes Generic Pharmaceutical Association member
Hospira has announced its membership of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA), an organisation representing the interests of companies producing off-label medicines.
The healthcare company will be working with the association in addressing issues facing the sector, as well as offering informed input at a time when the generics industry is facing an evolving business market.
Hospira's specialty injectable pharmaceutical range includes around 200 generic injectable drugs in many dosages and formulations, encompassing anti-infectives and anaesthetics, as well as treatments for cardiovascular, oncology and emergency applications.
GPhA president and chief executive officer Ralph Neas praised the company for its work in making affordable therapies available to millions of patients.
Thomas Moore, president of Hospira's US operations, added: "GPhA is a strong industry trade association that will continue to work tirelessly to bring the safest, high-quality, lower-cost generic drugs to patients and families who need them."
This comes after the company achieved a year-on-year sales increase of 3.6 percent in 2011, despite challenging business conditions.
