Hospira reports satisfaction with 2010 business progress
Hospira has published its financial results for the 2010 full-year period, reporting single-digit year-on-year growth.
The pharmaceutical company's net sales for the year advanced by one percent compared to 2009 to reach a total of $3.92 billion (2.43 billion pounds), while income and profit levels rose by 3.2 percent and four percent respectively.
During the last 12 months, the company saw improved sales of its specialty injectable pharmaceuticals, expanded its global operations and portfolio and successfully introduced its generic oncology treatment gemcitabine in the US.
Christopher Begley, chairman and chief executive officer of Hospira, also noted the firm's progress with its quality initiatives and Project Fuel optimisation programme.
"Looking forward, we expect a year of good growth in 2011, as we remain committed to transforming challenges into opportunities and driving continuous improvement across the organisation," he added.
Last month, Hospira agreed a deal to acquire exclusive European and Asian marketing rights to the personalised haematology product Atir from Kiadis Pharma.
