Hospira’s Symbiq and LifeCare PCA pumps receive acclaim

Hospira's Symbiq and LifeCare PCA infusion pumps have received accolades in a new report into smart pump technology from research firm KLAS.

The publication has ranked the devices as the top products in their respective categories in the Smart Pumps 2012: Wireless Technology and EMR Integration Report, which is based on data from US healthcare professionals and patients.

In addition, Hospira was also recognised as the early leader in electronic medical record (EMR) integration with infusion pumps, as it has more live IV clinical integration (IVCI) sites than any other firm and is also the only vendor to integrate with multiple EMR providers.

Earlier this month, the company appointed John Elliot, a veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, as its new senior vice-president (SVP) for operations.
