Iams Pet Imaging purchased by AnimalScan

13th August 2009

Iams’ Pet Imaging division has been bought from Procter & Gamble and ProScan Imaging by AnimalScan.

Financial terms of the deal, which was welcomed by chief executive officer of AnimalScan Jim Stuppino, were not disclosed.

Commenting on the transaction, he said: “Coupled with our extensive experience in veterinary care and magnetic resonance imaging, this acquisition positions AnimalScan as the front-runner in high field imaging technology for companion animals.”

Procter & Gamble, which declared a quarterly dividend of 44 cents (26p) per share of common stock and series A and series B ESOP convertible class A preferred stock on July 13th, said that AnimalScan is in the best position to advance the business.

Salvatore DeFrancesco, chairman of the board at AnimalScan, stated that the company expects to expand into a range of “major markets” over the next 18 to 24 months through the use of state-of-the-art MRI equipment found in many healthcare facilities.
