Idexx Laboratories adds canine heartworm testing to SNAPshot Dx
Idexx Laboratories has augmented the functionality of its SNAPshot Dx Analyser by improving its capacity for canine heartworm testing.
The upgraded version of the animal health analysis system can electronically read and record results for Idexx's SNAP Heartworm RT Test, downloading data automatically on to electronic patient records.
According to the manufacturer, this will help to improve veterinary practice efficiency by minimising hands-on technician time, while also lessening the risk of lost charges.
It represents an upgrade compared to previous heartworm testing options for SNAPshot DX, which were formerly only available via the comprehensive vector-borne SNAP 4Dx Test.
Mike Sullivan, marketing director for Idexx's rapid assay business, said: "This new capability gives practitioners even more testing options, with the added benefit of integrated electronic patient records."
Earlier this year, the company launched its SNAP BVD Test for bovine viral diarrhoea diagnosis in the UK, allowing samples to be analysed in as little as 20 minutes.
