Idexx’s Snap Beta-Lactam ST Test wins AOAC accreditation
Idexx Laboratories has received a certification for its Snap Beta-Lactam ST Test from the Association of Analytical Communities (AOAC) Research Institute Performance Tested Methods programme.
The device has been designed to provide accurate, reliable detection of antibiotic residue in milk without the use of a heat block.
Following an independent evaluation by the AOAC, the test was shown to perform to Idexx's specifications for detection of penicillin G at or below the EU maximum residue limit of four parts per billion.
This means that milk processors, producers and haulers can use the Idexx Snap Beta-Lactam ST with greater confidence than ever.
Cathy Costa, a regulatory affairs specialist at Idexx, said: "Idexx is committed to quality, consistency, accuracy and efficiency in dairy testing."
Idexx experienced an improved business performance in the second quarter of 2012, during which it generated sales of $335.6 million (209.8 million pounds), up by six percent year on year.
