IDS appoints new non-executive director

IDS has announced the appointment of Dr Roland Sackers as a non-executive director and chair of its audit committee.

Dr Sackers is the current chief financial officer and managing director for life science company Qiagen, where he has been employed since 1999, helping to expand its business presence in the key North American market.

An auditor with expertise in the technology and biotechnology markets, he has also previously held roles at companies including Operon Biotechnologies and IBS.

Mr Sackers has taken up his new responsibilities with IDS as of the beginning of this month, with IDS chairman David Evans expressing confidence that his experience will contribute to the company's future success.

"We believe that Roland's strong diagnostics background and enviable reputation with international investors will benefit IDS," said Mr Evans.

According to a trading update issued earlier this year, IDS saw a year-on-year turnover increase of around 35 percent in the 12 months ending on March 31st 2011, resulting in an estimated total of 50.1 million pounds.
