Innovative technology Produced for Bionic Eyes
Low-power devices for bionic eyes have been produced by researchers in the United Kingdom and China. Individuals from the Harbin Institute of Technology and Northumbria University collaborated for this project.
Professor Richard Fu of Northumbria University called described the new technology a “significant breakthrough”.
Professor Fu explained that “The current visual systems are based on physically separated sensors, memories and processing units.”
“These systems often have high power consumption and difficulties of performing complex image learning and processing tasks. Therefore, our newly developed method is of great significance for the next generation [of] artificial visual systems.”
