Invitrogen launches new stem cell product
Invitrogen has launched its first ever serum-free media for mesenchymal stem cells (MSC).
The essential life science technology firm claims its Stempro MSC SFM overcomes many challenges in MSC culture.
Joydeep Goswami, vice-president of stem cells and regenerative medicine for the firm, said: "Scientists have been searching for years to develop a reliable serum-free media on which to grow mesenchymal stem cells."
He added: "[It] will allow therapeutics companies to provide more robust products to patients who need them."
The firm has also launched two other products: Stempro Adipogenesis and Stempro Osteogenesis, which both contain media and specific supplements that can induce MSC to follow the path to either bone or fat cells.
Meanwhile the firm launched a new cell therapy last month that it claims will advance the clinical cell field by creating a new unit of its business to focus on the market’s needs.
Invitrogen provides products and services that support academic and government research institutions and pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide.
