Invitrogen to participate in Global Volunteer Day
Employees at Invitrogen are to down their tools on May 24th for the company’s annual Global Volunteer Day.
More than 1,500 employees will clock up about 7,500 volunteer hours in the company’s fourth annual event devised to help communities in areas where they work and live.
The scheme will see employees each spend five hours of paid time to help participate in volunteer projects.
Greg Lucier, chief executive officer at Invitrogen, commented: "Whether through cleaning up an outdoor site, or acting as mentors to the youth in our communities, Invitrogen employees have dedicated thousands of hours of time to important causes.
"We strongly believe in improving the human condition, not just through research, but by giving back to our neighbours and our environment."
Employees in the UK will be visiting residents of Erskine Hospital and clearing paths at Castle Semple.
It was recently announced that Invitrogen will be partnering with Cytori Therapeutics to sell research tools for the study of adult stem cells.
