Ipsen concludes exclusive global licence agreement with Debiopharm

Ipsen has revealed that an exclusive global licence agreement with Debiopharm for the commercialisation and development of its anti-cancer agent has been completed.

The CDC-251 inhibitor (IRC-083864 or Debio 0931) has the capability to target cancer cells in humans by blocking the cell cycle and stunting the growth of tumours.

Under the terms of the agreement, Debiopharm will assume responsibility for its development, with Ipsen retaining the right to take over upon the completion of phase II clinical trials.

Chairman and chief executive of Ipsen Jean-Luc Belingard commented: “We are delighted that Ipsen’s CDC-25 inhibitor will be progressed toward clinical development by Debiopharm, a company with a strong track record in oncology.”

Ipsen is an international specialty pharmaceutical group that currently markets over 20 products and has 4,200 employees on its payroll. It also has four research and development centres, located in Barcelona, London, Boston and Paris.
