Ipsen forms new alliance with Institut Gustave Roussy

13th July 2011

Ipsen has announced a new alliance with the Institut de cancerologie Gustave Roussy, a leading international oncology research centre.

A three-year collaboration was agreed between the two companies at the end of last month, which will utilise the combined expertise of both organisations' research and development teams in the area of medical oncology.

Among the targets of the new alliance will be the development of new therapeutic targets, optimisation of biomarker research programmes and the design of relevant clinical study models.

It is hoped that this will lead to new discoveries regarding the dysregulated biological pathways associated with cancer, which will aid in the creation of personalised medicine options.

Claude Bertrand, executive vice-president for research and development and chief scientific officer of Ipsen, said: "This unique opportunity through the cross-entity synergies will speed up the development of innovative healthcare solutions."

This comes after the firm agreed an extended collaboration with the Salk Institute for Biological Studies earlier this week, which will focus on proliferative and degenerative disease.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800620059-ADNFCR
