Ipsen highlights progress towards 2020 business goals
Ipsen has provided an update on 2020 strategy and outlook at a recent investor day, highlighting the progress it has made towards its overall goals.
In June 2011, the firm committed to an increased focus on its research and development and commercial efforts, and geographical expansion in emerging markets and the US. This has generated solid growth of sales and profits between 2010 and 2015.
It is now entering the second phase of this strategic plan, characterised by the further acceleration of sales growth, with a 2020 outlook for organic sales of between 1.8 billion and two billion euros (1.28 billion to 1.42 billion pounds) and a core operating margin above 26 percent.
To achieve this, it is increasing its focus on three niche therapeutic areas in specialty care, while reinforcing its presence in historical therapeutic areas such as urology-oncology and adult endocrinology, and exploring related topics such as gastrointestinal and orphan cancers.
In primary care, it will optimise its gastrointestinal portfolio, diversify its product range and reinforce its efforts to expand geographical coverage.
Christel Bories, deputy chief executive officer of Ipsen, said: "Our industry is going through a deep strategic mutation and Ipsen continue its transformation so as to be prepared for tomorrow's challenges."
