Ipsen renews collaboration with Salk Institute

12th July 2011

Ipsen has announced that its collaborative research programme with the Salk Institute for Biological Studies is to be extended for another three years.

The company is choosing to renew the Ipsen Life Sciences Program partnership in order to build on the advances it has made in the proliferative and degenerative disease research field since 2008.

It will involve the sponsorship of four research programmes through targeted and innovation grants, thus encouraging the exploration of new scientific concepts for the treatment of pituitary adenoma, cancer and neurodegenerative disease.

The extended programme will be led by Dr Inder Verma, the Irwin and Joan Jacobs Chair in Exemplary Life Science at the Salk Institute, who is a leading global authority on cancer biology.

Marc de Garidel, chairman and chief executive officer of Ipsen, said: "At a time when the magnitude and scope of the life sciences revolution challenge the imagination, it is critical for a biopharmaceutical company to secure close links with the leading academic institutions worldwide."

Last month, the company highlighted a number of new strategic targets it will be pursuing in the coming decade, including a doubling of its 2010 revenue total by 2020.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800618640-ADNFCR
