Ivoclar Vivadent pledges support for Philippines typhoon victims

Ivoclar Vivadent has announced it will be providing $200,000 (123,800 pounds) to support people in the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

A total of $100,000 of the donation will be provided to the Philippine Red Cross for direct emergency relief following the devastating natural disaster, while $100,000 will be used to reestablish dental healthcare measures for the population as a whole.

The company operates a manufacturing plant for ceramic and resin teeth near the Philippine capital Manila, where it employs around 300 people.

Although its facility and workforce were unaffected by the disaster itself, the firm wished to make this contribution in order to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the region.

Christoph Zeller, chairman of the supervisory board at Ivoclar Vivadent, said: "We hope that our donation will provide at least some relief to the survivors and speed up the reconstruction of the affected regions."

Last month, the company announced that its chief executive officer Robert Ganley has been named as honorary director of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation, honouring the contributions he and Ivoclar Vivadent have made in the field of prosthodontics.
