Janssen’s Nucynta ER shows pain management benefits in trial
Janssen has reported data from a phase III clinical study that demonstrates the benefits of its Nucynta ER treatment among diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients.
Results from the study showed that Janssen's drug was able to deliver significantly better levels of pain relief than placebo among adult patients with chronic moderate to severe diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
These findings are consistent with those of a previous Janssen-sponsored study published early last year, suggesting the therapy could offer benefits for a condition that is currently challenging to treat.
Dr Christine Rauschkolb, vice-president and head of integrated operations at Janssen Research and Development, said: "Janssen has a long history of helping physicians provide responsible treatment for patients to relieve their acute and chronic pain."
Earlier this month, the company welcomed news that the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence has recommended its prostate cancer therapy Zytiga, reversing a previous negative stance held by the British regulator.
