Johnson and Johnson company’s product approved

Johnson & Johnson’s subsidary Therakos has received approval for its Cellex Photopheresis System.

It is designed for patients who are unresponsive to other treatments to reduce the severity of the appearance of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.

The company behind the new product asserted it is easy to use and features several improvements designed to enhance the experience for those using it ? such as shorter treatment times.

If required, the automated, closed system allows users to switch between double and single-needle remedy. The product also adopts patented new technology to separate white blood cells.

Dr Larisa J Geskin, director of cutaneous oncology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, explained the product opens up treatment options to those whom it was previously unfeasible for.

She commented: “This new system requires less extracorporeal blood volume at any one time, making it possible to treat lower weight patients and others previously not considered for this therapy.”

Therakos has operated for over 20 years concentrating on immune cell therapies.
