Johnson and Johnson establishes UK innovation partnering offices

Johnson and Johnson has expanded its UK research capabilities with the opening of a new network of partnering offices across UK life science clusters.

Affiliated with its London Innovation Centre, the new offices will essentially act as extensions of the London site and will work with academics and entrepreneurs throughout the UK to identify early stage innovation, while supporting the translation of research into new products.

The offices are located at Cambridge's Babraham Research Campus, the University of Oxford Old Road Campus, the University of Manchester Innovation Centre, the Edinburgh BioQuarter and Cardiff's Life Sciences Hub Wales.

Representatives from the Innovation Centre in London will establish a regular presence in each of the partnering offices, which will be fully operational in early 2014.

Dr Kurt Hertogs, incubator strategy leader for the Johnson and Johnson London Innovation Centre, said: "We believe the establishing of these regional partnering offices will enable us to reach out and more effectively collaborate with innovators across the UK and Europe."

The London Innovation Centre was opened in March 2013 as part of a new global network that also includes sites in Boston, San Francisco and Shanghai.
