Johnson and Johnson reports strong sales growth in 2017
Johnson and Johnson has announced its financial results for 2017, during which it generated a full-year sales total of $76.5 billion (GBP 53.54 billion).
This represented a year-on-year increase of 6.3 percent, thanks in large part to a strong fourth quarter sales total of $20.2 billion, which was up by 11.5 percent compared to Q4 2016.
Worldwide consumer sales came to $13.6 billion for the year, up by 2.2 percent on 2016. Growth in over-the-counter categories, including the Tylenol analgesic and upper respiratory ranges and Neutrogena beauty products, helped to offset a decline experienced by the baby care and oral care businesses.
Johnson and Johnson was also able to generate robust pharmaceutical and medical device sales, allowing the company to set a target sales range of $80.6 billion to $81.4 billion for 2018.
Alex Gorsky, chairman and chief executive officer at Johnson and Johnson, said: "We are experiencing an incredible pace of change in healthcare. Johnson and Johnson is uniquely positioned to lead during this dynamic era and deliver innovative solutions for patients and consumers that drive sustainable, long-term growth."
