21st July 2014

Johnson and Johnson has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2014, during which it generated a three-month sales total of $19.5 billion (11.42 billion pounds).

This represents a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent, with its pharmaceutical, consumer and medical device divisions all seeing year-on-year gains. The pharma unit recorded the most pronounced increase at 21.1 percent.

A combination of new product launches and the continued success of established brands continued to drive success for the company, while higher growth rates were generally seen for territories beyond the US.

The group also made progress with the continued integration of medical technology firm Synthes and completed the divestiture of its Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics to the Carlyle Group for approximately $4 billion.

Alex Gorsky, chairman and chief executive officer at Johnson and Johnson, said: "Our diversified business model, focus on long-term growth drivers and talented colleagues position us well in this evolving and dynamic global healthcare market."

The company's Q2 performance improved on the $18.1 billion sales total from Q1 2014, showing the positive momentum it is currently enjoying.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801736636-ADNFCR
