Johnson and Johnson’s Listerine mouthwash endorsed by studies
Johnson and Johnson's Listerine Total Care Enamel Guard mouthwash has demonstrated its effectiveness in a number of clinical studies.
The manufacturer has highlighted a number of research papers which underline the oral care product's efficacy in protecting tooth enamel against acid erosion and plaque bacteria, reports Dentistry.co.uk.
Research indicates that the Listerine mouthwash is able to provide optimum short-term salivary pH levels for maximum fluoride uptake and mineral exchange, while other studies also illustrated its effectiveness in killing plaque bacteria.
Johnson and Johnson also cited a six-month trial showing that Listerine Total Care Enamel Guard delivers an incremental plaque reduction of 51.9 percent compared to brushing and flossing alone.
"Listerine Total Care Enamel Guard is a logical adjunct to the oral hygiene regimen, offering protection against acid erosion and the plaque bacteria which cause caries," it added.
Last month, Johnson and Johnson published its financial report for the third quarter of 2010, during which it generated sales of $15 billion (9.3 billion pounds).
