Keeler launches portable ophthalmic imaging device

Keeler has announced the launch of a new portable device for use in convenient ocular imaging in any setting.

The Pictor digital imager delivers high-resolution JPEG pictures of the retinal and external eye structures, which can easily be utilised with any computer system, software programme or patient database system.

It weighs only 450 g and comes with a compact retinal and anterior module, which can be used to image other parts of the eye such as the fundus and surface, while additional otoscopic and dermascopic attachments are also included.

The Pictor device is designed to be extremely compact, with all of its accessories fitting into a small briefcase, making it highly portable and adaptable for a range of applications.

Keeler states that this makes it usable in many settings where traditional fixed systems cannot be used, such as for non-ambulatory patient visits, off-site clinics and for paediatric patient exams.

Last month, the manufacturer won praise from the Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which recently purchased its 100th Vantage indirect ophthalmoscope.
