A device that is able to identify sub-clinical ketosis in cows have been realised into the UK market.
The CentriVet bovine ketone monitoring system, requires 1.2u;l of blood to be dropped onto a test strip and inserted into the monitor give quantitative results in 10 seconds.
Tara Smith, the marketing coordinator of the monitors UK Distributor Rapid Labs said “Ketosis is often overlooked due to the lack of clinical signs, but can have serious consequences on the production of milk once diagnosed. The Centrivet meter and strips accurately identify sub clinical ketosis within seconds, and enables a prompt course of action to be taken in preventing ketosis from happening.”
