Kimal provides haemodialysis machines for Great Ormond Street

17th November 2010

Kimal has supplied a number of its innovative new NxStage System One portable haemodialysis units to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

The renowned facility becomes the first children's hospital in Europe to offer the device, which allows patients to undergo haemodialysis procedures wherever they are, rather than having to travel to the hospital.

Dr Dal Hothi, consultant paediatric nephrologist at Great Ormond Street, said the innovation represents a "life-changing" breakthrough which will reduce the negative impact that time-consuming dialysis treatment can have on the lives of patients.

This will allow renal patients and their families to travel abroad for the first time, while still being able to maintain their treatment regime.

Mark Pettitt, Kimal's managing director, noted that NxStage System One also brings benefits to hospital management, as home haemodialysis "relieves some of the pressures on bed and staff availability".

Earlier this year, Kimal launched its new IVantage ambulatory infusion pump, which allows those taking nutrition via intravenous lines to maintain their mobility.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800240993-ADNFCR
