Kimal wins award for Aston University partnership
Kimal has been presented with the Innovation Award at the 2011 Medilink West Midlands Healthcare Business Awards, honouring its recent partnership with a British university.
The medical technology firm won the prestigious prize for its knowledge transfer partnership with Aston University, designed to identify mechanisms for engaging with NHS organisations to offer in-home care for renal dialysis patients.
Mark Jenner, commercial and supply manager for Kimal, said the agreement between the two organisations will help to create better understanding of the cost of offering these services, thus facilitating patient choice.
"This is great recognition of how important it is to collaborate with the right organisations and institutions to help adopt new technology and innovations," he said.
In addition to the innovation prize, Kimal also received a "highly commended" status in the partnership with NHS/academia category.
Earlier this year, the company was granted CE Mark accreditation for the IVantage Pump, a new volumetric ambulatory infusion pump product.
