Kimberley-Clark announces record quarterly sales

Pharmacy supplier Kimberley-Clark has announced its net sales during the first three months of the year hit a new record of $4.8 billion (£2.4 billion).

It highlighted that organic sales growth exceeded five per cent, partly as a result of an increase in purchase volumes but also as a result of higher selling prices.

Chairman and chief executive officer Thomas J Falk said it had been a “good start” to the year despite “unrelenting” inflationary pressure.

“We continued to do the right things for the long-term health of our business, driving costs out of the system and stepping up marketing support for our brands,” he added.

Earlier this year, Kimberley-Clark declared full-year sales of $18.3 billion, an increase of nine per cent on 2006.

Furthermore, it revealed that the company had made cost savings of around $265 million over the 12-month period, a reduction in costs which offset the inflation of other costs.
