Kimberly Clark Foundation funded programme sees cook off

27th November 2008

Kimberley-Clark Foundation’s funded programme – Family Plus (Parents Leading, Uniting and Serving) – has seen a cook-off in Atlanta, US.

Hosted by Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), the first-ever National Family Plus Cook-Off saw teams from around the country competing.

Family Plus is a programme that helps clubs to implement family support activities into their projects and is currently supported through a five-year $7 million (4.54 million pounds) contribution by the Kimberly-Clark Foundation.

The vice-president of the company also served as a judge, alongside Emily Studdard, mother of an American Idol winner and BGCA’s National Youth of the Year, Demetrice Tuttle.

As a result of the competition, a family from California was named the champion, winning a year’s supply of Kimberly-Clark products, a Nintendo Wii and a trip to Disney World.

Jose Cruz, director of family support at BGCA, said: “Boys & Girls Clubs of America realises that the family is the foundation on which children build healthy relationships.”

“We created the Family Plus programme to provide parents and caregivers with the resources they need.”

With more than 55,000 people employed, Kimberly-Clark’s brands include Andrex, Kleenex, Huggies and Little Swimmers.
