Kimberly-Clark included in new Natural Capital Leaders Index
Kimberly-Clark has been included in the inaugural Natural Capital Leaders Index, which was published for the first time last month by GreenBiz Group and Trucost.
The index names Kimberly-Clark among 34 "decoupling leaders" from ten countries that have been able to increase their revenues during the 2008 to 2012 period, while simultaneously reducing their environmental impact.
In recent years, the firm has adopted a transparent approach to the disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions and also reduced its air emissions and water and energy use.
The Natural Capital Leaders Index is part of the broader State of Green Business report, which measures the progress of large publicly-traded companies on a range of sustainability targets. Trucost reviewed the performance of 4,600 major companies worldwide for this analysis.
Lisa Morden, senior director of global sustainability for Kimberly-Clark, said: "We understand that consumers, customers, employees and all of our business partners expect us to be wise and prudent stewards of the resources that are essential to our business."
This comes after the company was also recently included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index and the UN Global Compact 100, while also receiving praise for the transparency and diligence of its sustainability reporting from the Global Reporting Initiative.
