Kimberly-Clark recognised for action against deforestation

Kimberly-Clark has been hailed by global not-for-profit organisation CDP for its efforts to assess and minimise deforestation risks across its global supply chain.

The company has been named as the world sector leader for household and personal care products in CDP's forests annual report, having previously topped this ranking both in 2010 and 2011.

To earn this status, the firm has completed a full assessment of the major forest risk commodities in its supply chain, taken extra effort to determine the origin of these commodities and set targets for 100 percent certified materials or designated suitable alternatives.

Lisa Morden, senior director of global sustainability for Kimberly-Clark, said: "Kimberly-Clark is proud of the efforts we have made to address deforestation risk in our supply chain through an industry-leading fibre procurement policy, inclusive stakeholder engagement practices and an active risk-management programme."

This comes after the company was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index and newly launched UN Global Compact 100 last month, further underlining its commitment to sustainability.
