Kodak sets up business to improve healthcare facilities

Eastman Kodak has announced the establishment of a new consulting service by its health business.

Kodak Business Diagnostics will work with healthcare facilities to improve their business operations, save money and cut down on waste through digital imaging technology, including picture archiving and communications systems (PACS). Engineers from Kodak will analyse facilities to produce data on performance and productivity and make comparisons with similar providers to find ways to improve efficiency within health organisations.

“Industry consultants report more than half of facilities that installed PACS over the last three years have not realised projected productivity and revenue gains,” commented Diana Nole, general manager, business strategy, product management and marketing for Kodak’s health group.

“This indicates the need for consulting services like Kodak Business Diagnostic Services that target inefficiencies and identify process improvements not only within the radiology department, but also in the delivery of imaging services to clinicians, staff and other users.”

Kodak’s health business generates annual revenues of about $2.65 billion and provides a number of information and imaging solutions for the healthcare industry, including radiography systems, dental imaging solutions, e-services and molecular imaging products. It also offers training services to businesses using its systems.
