Kruuse and Vetstream to support online training initiative in Africa

11th February 2015

Kruuse and Vetstream have announced that they will be supporting an initiative to give veterinarians in Africa online access to the latest continuing professional development materials and other educational resources.

Vetstream is partnering with UK-based charity Computers 4 Africa to spearhead the project, with Kruuse set to sponsor the initiative as part of its efforts to raise standards of animal health care worldwide.

The aim is to help more than 150 African veterinary practices in Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda to get online by the end of 2015, with Vetstream to provide its Canis and Felis peer-reviewed multimedia point-of-care encyclopaedias to participating veterinarians.

Computers 4 Africa, meanwhile, is collecting unwanted computers, tablets and smartphones, wiping their data and refurbishing them, before installing software and browser solutions and shipping them to Africa for use.

Dr Mark Johnston, managing director of Vetstream, said: "Education is a key part of helping our colleagues deliver the best level of clinical care that they can in Africa and we are delighted to be part of the team delivering this transformation."

This comes as part of the wider African Small Companion Animal Network project, run by the World Small Animal Veterinary Association's charitable foundation to advance standards of veterinary care across the continent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801774947-ADNFCR
