Kruuse to launch Mobile Network telemetric ECG system
Kruuse has announced plans to launch a new mobile version of its Televet 100 telemetric ECG system.
The animal health company has introduced the Mobile Network telemetric ECG system, which offers compatibility with 3G Android phones, at the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) 2011 congress this month.
While the previous version of Televet was only able to transmit data within a range of 100 metres, the new device can be linked to a phone or tablet PC and utilise the capabilities of the Mobile Edge network.
This means veterinarians can record real-time data on any computer with an internet connection, while GPS information collected by the phone means data on the electrocardiogram (ECG), heart rate and velocity of the horse can also be displayed.
Dr Mark Bowen, an associate professor of veterinary internal medicine at the Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, said: "We are now able to monitor ECG changes in real-time as horses undertake their normal type of exercise, without being limited to working horses on training gallops or working in a menage."
The company also unveiled a new woundcare product for horses at BEVA 2011, a honey-based wound dressing option called Kruuse Manuka.
