Lab M launches Pinnacle pre-poured plates for Legionella

Lab M has announced the launch of two new additions to its Pinnacle range of pre-poured plates for the isolation of Legionella.

The Pinnacle Legionella GVPC and BCYE media have been designed for optimal recovery of Legionella bacteria from water samples. Both are ISO formulation-compliant and performance compliant according to ISO 11133:2014 regulations.

They are ready to use with the correct plate depth and dispersion of charcoal assured, facilitating high-volume testing, while preventing charcoal from the medium contaminating other agars and damaging preparators.

Additionally, they remove the need to add cycloheximide post-sterilisation, which can pose a risk to technicians, as it is classified as toxic.

Melanie Patterson, Lab M's head of business development, said: "We believe our new Pinnacle Legionella pre-poured plates are the first readily available products to enable labs to meet new industry performance standards."

This comes after the firm recently launched NutriTone, a new range of cost-efficient premium peptones for cell culture applications.
