Lab M launches XLT4 Agar for salmonella detection

Lab M has announced the launch of a new agar product for use in the isolation and identification of salmonella cultures.

The life science company's new Xylose Lysine Tergitol-4 (XLT4) Agar is a selective medium for the detection and recovery of non-typhi Salmonella spp. from environmental, food and clinical samples.

It has been optimised to offer strong performance even in cases where samples are heavily contaminated by competing microbiological flora in cases such as faecally contaminated agricultural samples.

The new product joins what the manufacturer describes as a "comprehensive and proven" range of media for use in salmonella detection, providing scientists with a wide array of methodologies from which to choose.

"Through an ongoing programme of product development, the company continues to introduce new formulations, thereby helping users achieve their specific requirements," added Lab M.

Last month, the company demonstrated its latest product advances at the Medica 2011 European exhibition, which took place in Dusseldorf.
