Labour Leader asks the government to consider community pharmacies’ offer to help administer the C-19 vaccine
The leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer, has called on the government to benefit on community pharmacies’ proposals to support administering the COVID-19 vaccine to help achieve a faster twenty-four-seven programme by the end of February 2021.
Starmer stated: “The whole country wants this rollout to succeed. We were the first to get the vaccine and if we get this right and pull together – I know we can be the first country to roll it out successfully. To do that, the government needs to match the nation’s ambition with a twenty-four-seven rollout, which harnesses all the expertise and dedication our country has to offer. Every high street has a pharmacy and I want to see every possible pharmacy deployed to help.”
President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Sandra Gidley, stated: “RPS and other pharmacy organisations are working together with the government to progress the role of community pharmacists in the COVID-19 vaccination programme.”
