Leica EM TRIM2 ‘outperforms predecessor’
Leica has announced that its EM TRIM2 specimen trimmer performs more strongly than the previous EM TRIM model.
The device utilises a tungsten carbide or diamond cutting surface to allow samples to be prepared to a high level of detail.
Meanwhile, an in-built microscope and light emitting diode allow the target area to be visualised with greater accuracy, Leica advises.
"The improved stability of the instrument eliminates vibration to the greatest possible extent, which provides even smoother surfaces and thus better results," the company adds.
Leica also recently unveiled the EM TXP, which combines four tools for surface preparation into a single product.
Sawing, milling, grinding and polishing are all able to be achieved using the device, Leica suggests.
The firm proposes that fine-detail applications such as the preparation of gold bonding wires within semiconductor chips could benefit from the use of the EM TXP.
