Leica Microsystems launches new series of stereomicroscopes

Leica Microsystems has announced the launch of its M Series of stereomicroscopes, which is made up of the M165 C and M205 C.

Making use of FusionOptic technology – where the right beam path supplies a high-resolution image and the left produces a great depth of field – the microscopes are designed for advanced lab applications, the company asserts.

The M205 C is the first stereomicroscope to feature a fully apochromatically corrected 20.5:1 zoom, while the M165 C has a zoom of 16.5:1 and is the most powerful instrument of its kind in its class, Leica states.

Components relating to magnification, including the optics carrier, nosepiece and lighting unit are linked to each other through Leica’s Application Suite software and all data are bundled and synchronised on computer.

It was recently reported that the company would sell Expression Pathology’s Director non-contact microdissection slides in conjunction with the Leica LMD6000 laser system.
