Leica reveals latest gadgets at major trade fair

15th November 2007

Leica Microsystems has presented its latest "innovative technologies" at the world’s leading trade fair for the international electronics manufacturing industry.

Germany’s Productronica 2007 witnessed the "quality assurance of circuit boards" in the form of the new stereomicroscopes, Leica M205 C and M165 C, as well as the latest precision instrument for sample preparation.

"Whether for inspecting cross sections, viewing surfaces in three dimensions, or recording digital documentation for damage analysis, top microscope resolution and first-class sample surface quality are decisive success factors in industrial quality control," said a spokesperson for Leica.

"With the stereomicroscopes Leica M205 C and M165 C, Leica Microsystems has managed to push back the previous barriers of stereomicroscopy," the representative added, pointing out that the M205 C makes use of a "neurological phenomenon" by implementing the new Leica FusionOptic.

With this, the left beam path produces depth of field while the right beam path provides a high-resolution image, leaving the human brain to combine the best information from both and use it to compose an image "whose resolution and depth of field have never been achieved in any stereomicroscope before".

Leica added that its DM2500 M is ideal for inspecting circuit board cross sections while being affordable for small budgets.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18356424-ADNFCR
