Leica to extend Cerebo integration to Novopath laboratory information system
Leica will partner with NovoPath to achieve seamless integration between its Cerebro Specimen Tracking technology and the NovoPath Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Information System.
The aim of this partnership is to help reduce human identification errors and identify problems before they cause patient safety risks. It builds on NovoPath's established support of Leica Biosystems' range of labellers, stainers and other histology equipment.
Thanks to this integration, labs will be able to electronically track samples from specimen receipt all the way to result delivery, while also receiving the necessary data to identify bottlenecks and improve workflow efficiency.
Ultimately, this will help anatomic pathology scientists to increase operational efficiency and enhance patient safety.
Puneet Sarin, vice-president and general manager of the pathology imaging business at Leica Biosystems, said: "Our customers demand that we improve integration of our products with their laboratory information systems. This advancement is critical to the improvement of their overall workflow."
Last month, Leica Biosystems expanded its business with the completion of its takeover of Devicor Medical Products, a leading producer of breast biopsy instruments and consumables.
