Leica’s lab solutions ‘from patient to pathologist’
Leica has introduced a new cryostat platform to make it "easier, safer and faster" for pathologists to produce the high-quality frozen sections they rely on.
Part of the Leica cryomicrotomy range, the CM1950 includes a standard instrument plus a range of options that allow laboratories to create cryostats matching their individual needs.
"Like all Leica Microsystems products, the CM1950 is the result of extensive customer consultation," commented a spokesperson for the company.
"With a CM1950, laboratories can be sure they have an instrument that meets their requirements for high quality sectioning, unmatched user safety and significantly improved workflows," the spokesperson continued.
Two significant features introduced alongside the cryostat platform are intended to ensure the device meets the expectations of users.
The CryoZone cooling system controls a zone of uniformly cool air in the critical areas of the cryochamber, while an optional vacuum system aids workflow and enhances operator safety by removing waste material.
Leica has emphasised its intention to provide high-productivity workflow solutions for the entire lab "from patient to pathologist".
